Conservative commentator Candace Owens has revealed new details about her recent closed-door meeting with Erika Kirk, widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, calling the long conversation a “very big step in the right direction.”
Owens met Erika Kirk on December 15 after weeks of public tension between the two. The dispute stemmed from Owens sharing theories about Charlie Kirk’s death, which Erika Kirk had earlier urged her to stop, citing concerns that such speculation could influence the jury in the ongoing case against the accused shooter, Tyler Robinson.
In a video posted on social media following the meeting, Owens said the discussion lasted nearly four and a half hours and left her exhausted but relieved. “I’m totally fine,” she joked, adding that she had planned to record a podcast episode immediately afterward but felt too drained. She promised a detailed breakdown on her show the following day.
Describing the meeting as “productive,” Owens said she asked Erika Kirk “every single question” she had, covering topics ranging from internal issues at Turning Point USA to previously floated claims about suspicious travel patterns involving an Egyptian plane. Owens acknowledged that some of her earlier assumptions were based on a misunderstanding of time zones, which had led to confusion about the timing of the flight she had referenced.
“I was very surprised by some of the answers I got,” Owens said, adding that Erika Kirk was also taken aback by certain information Owens shared during the discussion.
The meeting appears to have eased tensions between the two. Erika Kirk later posted on X that the conversation was productive and hinted at more updates to come, saying she was looking forward to upcoming Turning Point USA events and “getting back to work.”
The development suggests a temporary truce after weeks of public back-and-forth, with both sides signalling a willingness to move forward following direct dialogue.
