This year’s Poshan Maah, celebrated from 17 September to 16 October 2025, was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. The initiative emphasised that women’s health and nutrition form the foundation of strong families and a Viksit Bharat. Speaking about the programme’s vision, a ministry official said, “Poshan is not just about nutrition, it is about nurturing a stronger, healthier, and more capable India.”

The theme of the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah was “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar” (Healthy Women, Empowered Families), focusing on improving the health and nutrition of women and children. The observance emphasised comprehensive health screening, balanced diets, and awareness about nutrition-related practices. Key thematic areas included reducing obesity, lowering sugar and oil consumption, early childhood care and education (ECCE), infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices, men’s participation in nutrition initiatives, promoting local produce, and digitisation for convergence.

Under the leadership of Union Minister Smt. Annpurna Devi, the month-long campaign witnessed the active involvement of various Ministries, Departments, and community-based organisations. The initiative reflected a “Whole-of-Government, Whole-of-Society” approach, engaging citizens from grassroots to national levels. From household-level nutrition demonstrations to large-scale awareness drives, activities across India highlighted the shared commitment to achieving a Suposhit Bharat, a nourished, healthy, and empowered nation, forming the basis for a developed India by 2047.

The concluding event in Dehradun will showcase community mobilisation initiatives, field experiences in nutrition, and the felicitation of Poshan and Mission Shakti Champions. The ceremony aims to celebrate collective action and reinforce the vision of advancing the Jan Andolan for a Suposhit and Viksit Bharat.
