The first budget session of the Delhi government, headed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is set to begin today, March 24. This five-day session will start at 11 AM with a special kheer ceremony.
Tomorrow, March 25, the ‘Viksit Delhi’ Budget will be presented, which is anticipated to emphasize improving infrastructure, cleaning the Yamuna River, and addressing air pollution.
On the inaugural day, the introduction of a report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) for the Delhi Transport Corporation for 2024 is expected.
This Budget Session is crucial as it is a moment of great significance for the BJP government, which has come to power in Delhi after 27 years, due to the latest Delhi Legislative Assembly election held in 2025. This is going to be the second session of the new government, whereas the first one was held between February 24 and March 3.
On Saturday, CM Gupta said that BJP government's "Viksit Delhi Budget" for the 2025-26 financial year will give top priority to empowering women economically, expanding education and health services, and enhancing infrastructure, besides checking pollution and waterlogging issues.
The Chief Minister added that the Delhi government requested suggestions from different members of society, including professionals, to shape the budget. They got 3,303 suggestions through email and 6,982 via WhatsApp.
