Delhi Police has rolled out extensive security and traffic measures across the national capital ahead of Diwali to ensure a safe and smooth festive season for residents and visitors. Key markets, crowded public areas, and major commercial hubs with heavy footfall are under special surveillance. Police personnel have been deployed in adequate numbers across all districts, supported by Central Armed Police Forces to boost on-ground security.
Traffic management has been a key focus, with Delhi Traffic Police increasing manpower to regulate vehicular movement, safeguard pedestrians, and maintain public convenience. Authorities are issuing regular advisories detailing restrictions, diversions, designated parking spots, and important instructions for commuters. Citizens are urged to follow traffic rules, avoid personal vehicles when possible, and use public transport to ease congestion.
To deter crime and reassure the public, flag marches are being conducted in high-footfall areas, including major markets. A joint march by Delhi Police and CAPF personnel recently took place in Chandni Chowk. Foot patrolling continues in all districts, ensuring law and order and maintaining heightened police visibility to discourage potential offenders.
Anti-sabotage measures have also been strengthened with Bomb Disposal teams and Dog Squads checking busy markets, railway stations, and interstate bus terminals. To manage crowds, temporary watchtowers and public address systems have been installed in collaboration with market associations, allowing authorities to advise the public and alert them to remain vigilant during celebrations.
Local police leaders, including Additional DCP Rishi Kumar Singh, ACP Karol Bagh, and SHO Karol Bagh, conducted ground-level reviews and foot patrols in key areas to monitor security arrangements and provide necessary instructions for public safety.
With a multi-layered approach combining manpower, technology, and coordination, Delhi Police aims to ensure that Diwali celebrations are safe, organized, and enjoyable for all residents of the city.
