In a shocking incident in Noida on Friday, a teenage boy from Delhi lost control of a rented Mahindra Thar SUV, crashing into several vehicles and injuring one person. The accident occurred near ESIC Hospital in Sector 24.
According to police reports, the boy rented the Thar without his family’s knowledge. He left home in the afternoon along with a friend, both minors, planning to meet another acquaintance. When his family started searching for him after being unable to contact him, the boy panicked upon spotting them while driving and lost control, colliding with parked cars and bikes.
Eyewitnesses captured the aftermath, showing mangled parts of the Thar and other vehicles. Bystanders quickly intervened to stop the fleeing teens.
Rana Singh, the injured victim, said, “I was returning from duty when a black Thar hit me at nearly 100 km/h. I was badly injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. The driver didn’t even stop or check on me.” Fortunately, he survived and later filed a police report.
Police arrested both teenagers and seized the Thar. A formal case has been registered against them. Authorities warned about the dangers of reckless driving and emphasized stricter supervision for underage individuals attempting to rent vehicles.
This incident highlights the growing concerns over reckless driving involving popular vehicles like the Thar, often seen in social media reels. Recent reports indicate several similar accidents involving this SUV in Delhi and nearby areas, raising safety alarms among authorities and the public.
Officials urge parents to remain vigilant and for rental agencies to enforce stricter age verification before handing over vehicles.
The case is currently under investigation, and further updates are expected as police examine the circumstances leading to the teen’s panicked reaction and subsequent crash.
