Eight Dead, 14 Injured in Pune Truck Accident

Pune: On Thursday, November 13, 2025, a tragic accident near Navale Bridge in Pune, Maharashtra, left at least eight people dead and fourteen injured. Around 5:30 p.m., a container truck struck multiple cars, causing a chain reaction that involved 20 to 25 vehicles.

The container truck struck other cars on the busy bridge, causing the collision, according to early reports from the Pune Police. Several of the vehicles caught fire as a result of the impact, making rescue operations even more difficult. Emergency personnel and firefighters raced to the scene to help the injured and put out the fire.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his condolences, announcing a financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to the families of the deceased. "I pay my heartfelt tributes to the people who lost their lives in this incident. We share the grief of their families," Fadnavis wrote in a post on social media platform X. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Member of Parliament, Supriya Sule, also extended her condolences, praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. "The injured are undergoing treatment, and I pray to God that they recover soon and return home," Sule posted on X.

In order to ascertain the cause of the accident, authorities have opened an investigation, concentrating on the container truck's involvement as well as any possible mechanical issues or driver carelessness. Better road safety measures are desperately needed, especially on busy highways like the one near Navale Bridge, as the incident has rocked the city.
