Jammu, Jan 2: Jammu and Kashmir Police have ordered a 14-day preliminary enquiry after a video circulated on social media showing a Kashmiri cricketer displaying a Palestinian logo on his helmet while playing cricket in the KC Door area of Muthi.
The cricketer has been identified as Furqan Ul Haq, son of Tajamul Hussain Bhat, a resident of Tangipuna, Pulwama district.
Considering the sensitivity of the matter and its potential implications for public order, the enquiry has been initiated under Section 173(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) at Police Station Domana.
Police officials said the preliminary enquiry will focus on verifying the facts surrounding the incident, assessing the intent behind the act, examining the background of the individual concerned, and probing any possible linkages.
Authorities further stated that appropriate action, if any, will be taken strictly in accordance with the law after the completion of the enquiry.
