Flights Disrupted at Agartala Airport

IndiGo cancelled nine flights at Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport on Sunday, significantly disrupting air traffic through the state’s busiest terminal.

Airport Director K M Nehra said the cancellations were linked to an “ongoing problem”, though no further details were provided. “Due to the ongoing problem, IndiGo has cancelled nine scheduled flights from MBB Airport on Sunday. But it will operate two flights as scheduled,” Nehra said. IndiGo operates a total of eleven flights from the airport each day, making the cancellations a major interruption for passengers travelling to and from the state capital. The halted services included both arrivals and departures.

Airport officials said passengers were informed through the airline’s communication channels, and assistance was provided at the terminal for rescheduling and refunds. Staff handled queries throughout the day as affected travellers sought alternative arrangements. The cancellation of such a high number of flights in one day has raised concerns among frequent flyers, as Agartala depends heavily on air connectivity for travel to major cities. Officials did not specify when full operations are expected to resume.

Despite the disruption, the airport functioned normally for other airlines, and security and ground services remained unaffected. IndiGo has not issued a detailed public statement on the nature of the operational issue, but officials said updates would be provided once the situation stabilises.
