Air travel to and from Srinagar faced temporary disruption on Sunday as three flights were cancelled following the issuance of a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The restrictions at Delhi airport are part of heightened security and airspace management measures ahead of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, officials said.

According to authorities at Srinagar International Airport, the affected flights included both arrivals and departures, and the cancellations were implemented by the respective airlines after receiving instructions linked to operational constraints in Delhi. Since Delhi is a major aviation hub and a key connecting point for flights to and from Srinagar, the restrictions had a direct impact on flight schedules.

Airport officials confirmed that a passenger advisory was immediately issued, urging travellers to verify the latest status of their flights with the concerned airlines before heading to the airport. Passengers were also advised to stay in close contact with airline customer care services for information regarding rescheduling options or refund procedures.

“We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers,” an airport official said, adding that such disruptions are unavoidable during periods of enhanced security and airspace regulation. The advisory further clarified that the cancellations are temporary in nature and directly linked to Republic Day-related arrangements at Delhi airport, including airspace restrictions and operational adjustments.

Despite the cancellations, airport operations in Srinagar otherwise remained normal, with other scheduled flights operating as per plan. Authorities reassured passengers that normal flight movements are expected to resume once the temporary restrictions at Delhi are eased.

Passengers, particularly those with connecting flights through Delhi, have been advised to plan their journeys carefully over the next few days, keep track of airline notifications, and allow extra time for travel. Airlines are expected to provide assistance to affected travellers in line with standard aviation guidelines.

Officials emphasized that passenger safety and national security remain top priorities during the Republic Day period, even as efforts are made to minimize inconvenience to the public.
