Former Indian opener and cricket analyst Gautam Gambhir has strongly criticized those targeting young cricketer Harshit Rana amid recent controversies. Gambhir said, “It is shameful that 23-year-old Harshit is being targeted just to gain views on YouTube. This behavior is not only unfair but also demoralizing for young players.”
He added, “Harshit’s father is neither a former cricketer nor a board chairman. He is pursuing cricket purely through his own talent and hard work. Targeting him like this is completely unjust.”
Gambhir further explained, “Imagine your own son playing cricket and having to face such harassment. How would that feel? Harshit is just 23, not 33. I can handle criticism myself, but attacking a 23-year-old is unacceptable.”
Through these remarks, Gambhir highlighted the ethical responsibility of Indian cricket and the importance of protecting young athletes. He warned that unnecessary pressure via social media or other platforms can negatively affect the mental well-being and growth of emerging players.
Gambhir’s comments not only show support for young cricketers but also stress the responsibility of media and society in ensuring a safe and encouraging environment for them.
