GST collections for March,2025 grows 9.9% to over ₹1.96 lakh crore

According to the government data released on Tuesday, the gross goods and service tax GST collections for March 2025 surged 9.9% staying at ₹19, 56, 034 crore. The data disclosed the fact that collections in the month of March rose by 6.8% more than rupees 1.8 point 4,00,000 crore tract in the previous month.

Also in the month of February the collections where higher than 9.1% to ₹183, 646 crore. The goods and service tax was implemented in the country from July 1, 2017, and henceforth all the states were insured for their compensation at loss of any revenue surging on account of the effect of GST.

According to the data, the gross GT revenue of March included ₹38, 100 crore from central GST, whereas the state GST rose at ₹49, 900 crore and ₹95, 900 crore came from integrated GST. According to the data, ₹12, 300 crore was collected from compensation cess.

The data shows that the February, in comparision, witnessed Central GST collections standing at Rs 35,204 crore while State GST stood at Rs 43,704 crore. The integrated GST at Rs 90,870 crore, and compensation cess stood at Rs 13,868 crore.

The recent GST collections embarks a steady positive growth in India’s economy emphasising powerful domestic intake and fluidity in import activities. The figures promises good enough for the countries fiscal health and economic strategies indicating resilience amidst global uncertainties.

Hair oil, toothpaste, soap; detergents and washing powder, wheat; rice; curd, lassi, buttermilk; wristwatches, TV up to 32 inches; refrigerators; washing machines, mobile phones, are among key items on which GST rates have been slashed substantially, or for some kept at zero, benefiting people. From time to time, the list is being revised with the approval of the Council.

The GST council, a federal body comprises with the Union Finance Minister as it’s chairman and Finance Ministers of all the States as it’s members has done it’s part in the forum the latest meeting of this body was held on 21st December at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
