Prime Minister Modi shares a message for World Health Day, stating "Health is the real wealth commodity." On World Health Day 2025, PM Narendra Modi reiterated the importance of physical and mental health for citizens, "Health is the most precious/effective fortune, health is the real wealth commodity."
In this statement on social media, he stated that the government at the Center will continue to invest in the health sector and place high priority on the welfare of the people for a fully healthy society. On this occasion for World Health Day, the WHO (World Health Organization) theme was—"Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures.”
The Prime Minister added that to realize a developed India, it is necessary that the people should remain healthy. He added that our lifestyles are playing a significant role in causing health to decline, and that obesity had become a huge problem now-a-days.
In a video message, Modi stated that a recent report raised an alarm that nearly 44 crore Indians could be obese by the year 2050. In order to avoid this possibility, something must be done immediately. He called specifically for a 10 percent reduction in cooking oil. As one very small change he asserted that it could have a significant impact on preventing a rise of obesity going forward.
