IAF’s Dinner Menu Takes Off Online with ‘Operation Kitchen’, A Playful Salute to Precision and Pride

The Indian Air Force’s 93rd anniversary celebration included more than just air displays and ceremonial pomp. It also featured a sharp sense of humor that quickly caught the nation’s attention. A dinner menu from the event went viral for its bold culinary nod to India’s past air operations against Pakistan, combining patriotism with wit and creativity.

The menu highlighted dishes named after Pakistani airbases significant in India’s counter-terror operations. Guests enjoyed Rawalpindi Chicken Tikka Masala, Rafiqui Rhara Mutton, Bholari Paneer Methi Malai, Sukkur Sham Savera Kofta, Sargodha Dal Makhani, Jacobabad Mewa Pulao, and Bahawalpur Naan. The desserts also carried symbolic weight, featuring Balakot Tiramisu, Muzaffarabad Kulfi Faluda, and Muridke Meetha Pan.

Each dish name evokes a chapter from the IAF’s operational history. The bases listed were targeted or monitored during India’s precision strikes, including Operation Bandar in 2019 after the Pulwama attack, and Operation Sindoor launched earlier this year following the Pahalgam terror assault. Operation Sindoor, conducted in May 2025, involved the Air Force executing focused strikes deep inside Pakistan-occupied territory, destroying terror infrastructure in Balakot, Muzaffarabad, and Bahawalpur, areas known for cross-border infiltration.

The creative menu was viewed by many as a sign of the Air Force’s confidence and subtle strategic messaging. It sparked a wave of reactions online, with social media users praising the IAF for what they called a “masterclass in tasteful trolling.” Memes, appreciation posts, and captions celebrating the force’s spirit and humor trended widely throughout the day.

Political responses followed quickly. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala shared the viral menu on X, commenting, “From serving dishes to serving justice. Now, even the IAF menu conveys a new normal.” He contrasted the current government’s assertive stance on terrorism with what he claimed was earlier inaction after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, stating that India’s security strategy has shifted from restraint to decisive action.

For the IAF, however, the gesture seemed to go beyond politics. It quietly yet powerfully reflected confidence and control a celebration of how India’s defense forces have reshaped deterrence in the region. Each dish on the menu represented more than a meal; it was a nod to missions that altered India’s response to terror and reaffirmed its dominance in the skies.

As images of the menu keep circulating online, public reaction reflects a broader national sentiment. What was once seen as bold cross-border strikes, open acknowledgment of aggressors, and direct messaging has now become part of India’s new language of strength and self-assurance.
