Indian Railways has transported more than 1.5 crore passengers so far during the festive season, and this number is expected to exceed 2.5 crore by the end. To provide a smooth and comfortable journey, the Railways has implemented extensive crowd management measures, especially in Bihar and nearby areas of Uttar Pradesh. Thirty major stations have been set up with large holding areas for returning passengers.
Over the years, the Railways has made significant progress in developing its infrastructure. The number of special trains has risen dramatically. Track construction has increased from about 400 to 600 kilometers per year a decade ago to over 4,000 kilometers annually. This major increase in capacity has helped create a more efficient and passenger-friendly network.
To handle the heavy festive traffic, railway staff across India are working tirelessly to maintain order and ensure passenger safety. In Bihar, where the Chhath Puja rush is at its peak, stations have added facilities such as extra ticket counters, CCTV surveillance, holding areas, and medical support. At Patna and Danapur railway stations, dedicated holding zones have been established with essential amenities. Medical teams and ambulances are available 24 hours a day to address emergencies. Rajendra Nagar Terminal in Patna has also assigned staff to assist passengers needing special help.
Passengers have shared very positive feedback about their travel experiences this season. Many have commended the Railways for its clean coaches, efficient ticketing system, on-time trains, and improved station facilities. At Jamalpur Railway Station in Bihar, travelers appreciated the reduced crowding due to the higher number of special trains and the overall cleanliness maintained on board.
Adding a cultural touch to the celebrations, Indian Railways has launched a special Vande Bharat Express between New Delhi and Patna for the Chhath festival. For the first time, traditional Chhath melodies are being played onboard, creating a festive atmosphere for passengers headed home. This special service adds to the 156 Vande Bharat Express routes already in operation across the country.
A female passenger traveling with her family mentioned that they received confirmed tickets without any issues during their journey. Others praised the punctual arrivals, clean toilets, quality food, and friendly staff. Many expressed gratitude to Indian Railways for making their festive travel a pleasant experience.
With its vast network and dedicated workforce, Indian Railways continues to prioritize passenger comfort and safety. From deploying extra trains to keeping things clean and on time, every effort shows the organization’s commitment to ensuring a safe, smooth, and enjoyable festive journey for millions of travelers across the nation.
