New Delhi: The 10 th Meeting of the India-Slovenia Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC) was held in New Delhi, which was co-chaired by Shri Saket Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and Mr. Peter Japelj, Director General of Economic, Cultural and Scientific Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia.
The meeting provided a platform on which both nations could examine the prevailing bilateral economic interaction, regions where improved cooperation can be made, and the foundation of future trade and investment development. Its discussions were wide in terms of sectors such as agriculture, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, health, transport, energy, tourism, MSMEs, Ayurveda and traditional systems of medicine.
India and Slovenia have been having a consistent increase in bilateral trade over the past few years indicating the increasing intensity of the relationship. The strategic position of Slovenia in the center of Europe and the growing economic interaction of India with the Europe will give great prospects of enhancing collaboration in trade, technology, innovation, and connectivity.
The sentiments on both sides were optimistic about the prospect of an even greater relationship and the Indian side has stressed the need to have the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) concluded early enough which will increase the trade relations between the two countries. Such visit was also accompanied by Mr. Peter Japelj visiting Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Commerce Secretary, Government of India, and discuss the possibility of improving bilateral cooperation.
The 10th JCTEC was a great milestone in the bilateral relationship as it reinforced India goal of a dynamic and mutually rewarding economic relationship with Slovenia. Both nations engaged in enhancing closer relations on the foundation of trust, mutual values, and friendship that would last through time and expand cooperation between Europe and India.
