New Delhi, March 22, 2025: Exhibitions India Group (EIG) showcased the 32nd Convergence India and 10th Smart Cities India expo, India's most prominent tech show supporting 'Digital India,' 'Make in India,' and the 'Smart Cities Mission.'
Launching the expo, Nitin Gadkari spoke about AI being a catalyst in India's economic development with an emphasis placed on the imperatives of techno-transformation, R&D, and tapping India's young engineer strength.
Inspired by the theme "Imagining an AI-Driven Future Today: Innovating for a Better Tomorrow," the expo featured technologies such as drones, robots, AR/VR, and smart city initiatives, bringing in thousands of visitors.
EIG Managing Director Chandrika Behl underscored the expo's function as a catalyst for technological and national development, establishing an inclusive and sustainable platform. She positioned it as a key platform for business, particularly Digitech startups, featuring global brands and offering sustained growth prospects.
The event hosted around 40 conference sessions, which allowed industry leaders, innovators, think tanks, and academics to engage in dialogues on future technologies and market trends. Strong attendance of ministry officials such as Abhishek Singh (Additional Secretary & CEO, India AI Mission), Sanket Bhondve (Joint Secretary), Panneerselvam Madanagopal (CEO, Startup Hub), Sanjeev Shankar (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting), and A. Dhanalakshmi (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Science & Technology) reflected the government backing for the sector. Singh said, "We are constructing AI applications within critical areas to be scaled up and used ubiquitously. The intersection of AI policies promises new tools for detecting data bias, enhancing machine learning, uncovering deepfakes, and watermarking AI-generated content."
Aman Gupta (co-founder & CMO of boAt), author Barkha Dutt, and founder of WebVeda Ankur Warikoo shared inputs about India's startup ecosystem. Gupta stressed how Indian brands have to be competitive and aspirational and urged entrepreneurs to "Discover your passion and pursue it with dedication. Stay humble and don't let success go to your head. My guiding principle is to be efficient and take responsibilities seriously."
One of the high points was the Investors Pitch competition in which 10 startups pitched ideas on healthcare, agriculture, and safety. Fuselage Innovation, an agri-tech startup from Kerala, won Prem Behl's Excellence Award with a cash award and a sponsored trip to attend GITEX Dubai and Morocco with a assured pitch at Supernova Challenge 2025 Berlin.
The Fintech and Smart Cities awards honored innovation in sectors such as AI for city development, smart energy solutions, digital inclusion, and urban mobility. The first Mobile India awards honored individuals and companies transforming the mobile sector.
