Bhopal: In a shocking incident in Madhya Pradesh, a woman, identified as Ashrafi alias Siya, was allegedly strangled by her married lover and her body was dumped inside a septic tank, police said.
The body was discovered on Thursday evening under the Nishatpura police station limits after children complained of a foul smell from a tank. Residents noticed an iron box floating and alerted authorities. Police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. No arrests have been made yet in connection to the main accused, Sameer, who remains on the run.
Investigations revealed that Siya and Sameer had met on Instagram about a year ago. What began as online conversations evolved into a relationship, prompting Siya to move from Maharashtra to Bhopal three months ago. Sameer, already married with two children, reportedly faced escalating tensions at home, with frequent arguments between Siya and his wife.
Police allege that on Monday, after a heated dispute, Sameer strangled Siya and, with the help of his brother, mother, and sister, sealed her body in an iron box and dumped it in a vacant plot’s septic tank to destroy evidence. Authorities have arrested Sameer’s family members for their alleged involvement.
The case highlights the dangers of illicit relationships and the dark side of online interactions, as investigators continue efforts to apprehend Sameer.
This tragic incident underscores the importance of awareness and safety in digital relationships, while authorities urge the public to report suspicious activities immediately.
