The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to mark another milestone with the launch of its latest communication satellite, CMS-03, on November 2, 2025. The satellite will be launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, aboard India’s most powerful heavy-lift rocket, the LVM-3, which earlier played a crucial role in missions like Chandrayaan-3 and Gaganyaan.

CMS-03 is a multi-band communication satellite equipped with transponders operating in the C-band, extended C-band, and Ku-band frequencies. It will enhance India’s voice, video, and data connectivity, particularly across its vast maritime and coastal regions. The satellite will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless communication between the Indian Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard, strengthening national security and operational efficiency.

Weighing around 4,400 kilograms, CMS-03 is one of India’s heaviest communication satellites to date. It aims to expand connectivity even to remote islands, deep-sea regions, and hard-to-reach coastal areas, thereby improving maritime communication and safety.

According to ISRO scientists, the launch of CMS-03 will significantly strengthen India’s oceanic communication infrastructure and enhance the nation’s strategic presence across international waters. It also aligns with the Digital India vision by enabling better data connectivity in distant and underserved regions.

CMS-03 is more than just a satellite  it is a symbol of India’s growing technological self-reliance. From space to the sea, this mission marks a new chapter in India’s pursuit of stronger, smarter, and more secure communication networks.
