The much-anticipated Drishyam 3 has seen a major casting change, with Jaideep Ahlawat stepping in to replace Akshaye Khanna. The announcement comes after Khanna reportedly walked out just days before shooting was set to begin, despite having signed an agreement with the film’s producer Kumar Mangat Pathak and director Abhishek Pathak.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Pathak revealed that Khanna clashed with the team over his look and remuneration. “Drurandhar’s success has gone to his head,” he commented, adding that Jaideep is not only a talented actor but also “a better person” to work with. Pathak also shared that he had produced one of the earliest films of Jaideep’s career, Aakrosh.
The film will continue to star Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Tabu, and Rajat Kapoor. Ajay reprises his role as a protective father, while Tabu plays the cop investigating the case. Akshaye Khanna, who joined Drishyam 2 as a senior police officer, will no longer be part of the franchise.
Kumar Mangat Pathak confirmed he plans to take legal action against Khanna for the abrupt exit, citing financial losses caused by the actor’s behavior. “I have already sent him a legal notice; he’s yet to reply,” Pathak stated.
Filming for Drishyam 3 has now begun, and the makers released a promotional video earlier this week, building anticipation for the next installment. The film, directed by Abhishek Pathak, is scheduled for release on October 2, 2026. Fans of the franchise are eager to see Jaideep Ahlawat’s take on the role and how the new dynamic unfolds.
This casting change has sparked conversations online, with many praising the team’s quick decision to bring in Jaideep, whose performances in films like Aakrosh and Raahgir have won critical acclaim. Despite the hiccup, the film’s production continues smoothly, promising another intense and gripping installment in the Drishyam series.
