A man recounted the horrifying moment he lost his mother in a fire at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur. He had stepped down for dinner when the blaze erupted, and by the time he returned, the hospital was engulfed in flames. The fire, reportedly caused by a short circuit, claimed the lives of at least eight patients.
The bereaved son expressed deep grief and frustration over the lack of timely emergency response and inadequate safety measures in the hospital. “I stepped away for a short while, and when I came back, my mother was gone. The hospital had no proper safety protocols,” he said.
The incident has sparked widespread public outrage, with many demanding accountability and immediate action to prevent such tragedies in the future. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and the hospital’s emergency preparedness.
Experts have warned that hospitals must maintain regular fire drills, emergency protocols, and modern safety equipment, emphasizing that even minor lapses can lead to catastrophic outcomes.
