JD(U) Leader’s Kin Found Dead in Purnea HomeIn a shocking incident, the elder brother of a Janata Dal (United) leader, along with his wife and daughter, were found dead at their residence in Bihar’s Purnea district on Tuesday night, 4 November 2025. Police confirmed the discovery of the three bodies on Wednesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Naveen Kushwaha, his wife Mala Devi, and their daughter Tanu Priya. The bodies were recovered from their house in the European Colony area under the Kehat Police Station limits. Purnea Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Jyoti Shankar said that a team from Kehat Police Station reached the spot soon after being informed by neighbours. “The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of death,” the officer stated.
According to officials, preliminary findings suggest that the incident occurred late on Tuesday evening. The house was locked from inside when police arrived, and the door was broken open to retrieve the bodies. Forensic experts and a dog squad were called in to assist in the investigation. Local residents told police that they became suspicious when the family did not respond to calls or come out of the house during the evening. Police have not ruled out any possibility, including foul play, and are awaiting the post-mortem report to confirm the cause of death.
Senior police officers, including the Superintendent of Police, visited the site and took stock of the situation. The area has been cordoned off as investigators collect evidence. The deaths have caused widespread shock in the locality. Naveen Kushwaha was known to be socially active and was the elder brother of a JD(U) leader associated with local political and community work. Authorities said further details would be shared after the completion of the forensic and autopsy reports.
