New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined a host of national leaders in paying homage to Dr B R Ambedkar on his 69th death anniversary at the Parliament House complex.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi were among those who gathered at the Prerana Sthal to offer floral tributes to the principal architect of the Constitution. Senior members from across the political spectrum marked the day, known as Mahaparinirvan Diwas, by recalling Ambedkar’s lasting contribution to social justice and democratic values.
In a message posted on X, the Vice-President wrote: “On Mahaparinirvan Diwas, I pay my humble tributes to Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the principal architect of our Constitution and a towering champion of social justice.”
Commemorative events were also held in several states, with public representatives and citizens observing Ambedkar’s legacy through gatherings, discussions and community activities. His work in advancing equality and rights remains a point of unity among leaders who highlighted his vision for an inclusive and progressive India.
