Low-Pressure Area Over Bay of Bengal to Bring Heavy Rainfall in Tamil Nadu

A well-marked low-pressure area has formed over the coastal regions of the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to significantly impact the weather across southern India in the coming days. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), this low-pressure system is likely to intensify into a full-fledged depression within the next 24 hours, potentially bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall to Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, parts of Andhra Pradesh, South Karnataka, and the Lakshadweep Islands from October 21 to October 27.

The IMD has warned that the system is moving in a west-northwest direction, which could increase the risk of waterlogging and adverse weather conditions in coastal and river-adjacent areas. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea, and residents in vulnerable areas are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions.

This weather situation could affect daily life, including potential disruptions in schools, offices, and transport, as well as posing risks to agriculture and commercial activities. Experts stress that proactive measures are crucial to minimize the impact of heavy rainfall in the affected regions.

The IMD has urged the public to follow local weather updates through official sources and media channels, while local authorities are preparing emergency measures to ensure the safety of residents. Families are advised to stay vigilant and take all necessary precautions during this period.
