Lt Gen Avinash Das Takes Charge at Army Hospital

New Delhi: Lieutenant General Avinash Das, a highly accomplished Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist with nearly four decades of service in the Armed Forces Medical Services, assumed charge as the Commandant of the Army Hospital Research and Referral (R&R), Delhi Cantonment.
An alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, Lt Gen Das brings with him extensive experience in clinical practice, administration and leadership. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served in several key appointments, including Senior Advisor in ENT at the Base Hospital, Delhi Cantonment, and the Command Hospital, Lucknow. His professional journey reflects a deep commitment to medical excellence and service to the Armed Forces.
Lt Gen Das has been the recipient of multiple commendation cards, including those from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) and the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C). These honours recognise his exceptional service, leadership and contribution to military healthcare.
During his tenure as Commandant of the Command Hospital (Northern Command), Udhampur, Lt Gen Das led the successful relocation of the entire hospital to a modern, purpose-built facility. The new hospital provided advanced infrastructure and improved access to specialised medical care for personnel serving in the northern sector.
After taking over at Army Hospital (R&R), Lt Gen Das expressed his resolve to build upon its proud legacy. “The Army Hospital (R&R) has always stood for excellence in patient care, research and education. My focus will be on strengthening these areas and ensuring world-class healthcare for our Armed Forces and their families,” he said.
The Army Hospital (R&R) is the apex tertiary care centre of the Armed Forces, providing specialised medical services to serving personnel, veterans and their dependants. With Lt Gen Avinash Das at the helm, the institution is expected to continue its tradition of excellence and innovation in military medicine.
