On this auspicious day of Maha Shivratri, in a tragic incident in Bihar, while performing ritual bathing, five youths have drowned in the river Ganga. So far, the rescue teams have been able to recover three bodies; the other two are still unaccounted for.
Eyewitnesses said that while the youths had entered the river together, all of a sudden they were washed away by the strong currents. Local people immediately informed the authorities, and a rescue operation resumed in the shortest time possible. The search teams and divers are still searching tirelessly for the missing youths.
It like a dark cloud of sorrow has descended to cover the whole area. The families of the deceased are shattered, while the residents are angry and frustrated at the felotism and infertility of safety arrangements. Many think that this calamity could-have been averted had the authorities taken more keep any day of great religious occasion.
