CHANDAULI (UP): A 30-year-old man allegedly killed a senior businessman after being taunted about his unmarried status, police said on Friday. The shocking incident occurred in the Sakaldiha area when the accused, Brijesh Yadav, brutally attacked 62-year-old Umashankar Maurya, a well-known businessman from the Tulsi Ashram locality.
The attack took place around 5 am as Maurya was on his routine morning walk. Circle Officer Sneha Tiwari confirmed that the altercation began after Yadav, who had been mocked for not getting married, encountered Maurya on the street. In a fit of rage, Yadav allegedly beat Maurya, who later succumbed to his injuries.
Maurya, a respected member of the community, was known for his successful business ventures. His death has left the local area in shock, with residents mourning the loss of a well-liked and influential figure. Following the incident, police swiftly arrested Brijesh Yadav. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the murder and are focusing on the emotional distress Yadav might have experienced due to the social taunts.
