PANAJI: Ajay Gupta, co-owner of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, which was the site of a devastating fire that claimed 25 lives, will be brought to Goa for questioning on Wednesday, confirmed senior officials.
Gupta was detained in Delhi following a nationwide search after a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him. Goa police had initially failed to locate him at his Delhi residence, prompting the issuance of the LOC. The fire, which broke out at the nightclub, led to the tragic deaths of 25 individuals and left several others injured. The incident has raised serious concerns about safety standards at the venue, and Gupta’s role in the tragedy is now under investigation.
A Goa police team will now escort Gupta to the state for further questioning as part of their ongoing investigation. Authorities are probing the cause of the fire and whether safety protocols were followed at the nightclub.
