Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the people of Jharkhand on Saturday, marking the State’s Foundation Day and the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The Prime Minister described Jharkhand as a land enriched with a vibrant tribal heritage and said its history is rooted in courage, struggle and dignity. He conveyed his wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of families across the State on this occasion. Recalling the contribution of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the Prime Minister paid homage to the tribal freedom fighter on his birth anniversary, which is observed nationally as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. He said the entire nation gratefully remembers Birsa Munda’s role in protecting the honour and dignity of the motherland during colonial rule.
In posts shared on X, the Prime Minister wrote: “जनजातीय संस्कृति से समृद्ध गौरवशाली प्रदेश झारखंड के सभी निवासियों को राज्य के स्थापना दिवस की बहुत बहुत शुभकामनाएं। भगवान बिरसा मुंडा जी की इस धरती का इतिहास साहस, संघर्ष और स्वाभिमान की गाथाओं से भरा हुआ है।” He added in another message: “देश के महान स्वतंत्रता सेनानी भगवान बिरसा मुंडा जी को उनकी 150वीं जयंती पर शत शत नमन… विदेशी हुकूमत के अन्याय के खिलाफ उनका संघर्ष और बलिदान हर पीढ़ी को प्रेरित करता रहेगा।”
The day is being observed with cultural programmes and tributes across Jharkhand, with special events dedicated to the legacy of Birsa Munda. The Prime Minister said that his life and sacrifice remain a lasting inspiration for future generations.
