NEW DELHI:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended his greetings and best wishes to devotees across the country on the conclusion of the four-day festival of Chhath Mahaparv.
In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister said the grand festival concluded with the morning offering of arghya to Bhagwan Suryadev (Sun God). He noted that during the celebrations, the divine splendour of India’s glorious Chhath Puja tradition was on full display.
Conveying his heartfelt wishes, Shri Modi said that the blessings of Chhathi Maiya should fill everyone’s lives with light and happiness.
The Chhath festival, primarily celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Nepal, is dedicated to worshipping the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya for prosperity, good health, and well-being. The four-day ritual involves nahai-khai (holy bath and meal), kharna (fasting and offering), evening and morning arghya to the setting and rising sun, respectively.
The festival witnessed large gatherings across riverbanks and water bodies, with devotees performing rituals in traditional attire, reaffirming the cultural and spiritual essence of this ancient Indian festival.
