Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the Navkar Mahamantra Divas at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 9th April 2025, emphasizing the significant contribution of Jain literature and philosophy to India's philosophical heritage. The day was celebrated to commemorate the value of peace, non-violence, and spiritual awakening enshrined in the Navkar Mahamantra, a sacred Jain mantra.

PM Modi highlighted Jainism's role in India's spiritual and cultural heritage in his speech by saying that the philosophy of moral living and self-purification is complementary to the concept of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). PM Modi reiterated that India's growth has to be based on its rich heritage and further added that ancient manuscripts and texts are included in this heritage. PM Modi initiated Gyan Bharatam Mission, which would digitize millions of manuscripts so that modernity and antiquity can be blended by AI.

The Prime Minister additionally noted on the impact of Jainism within the new Parliament building, with images of Tirthankaras and photographs of Lord Mahavir.

He participated in guests reciting the Navkar Mahamantra, referring to it as a symbol of humility and harmony across the globe. Modi challenged the people to overcome negative inner thoughts and selfishness, referring to this as real victory motivated by Jain principles.

The event saw participation from over 108 countries, reflecting Jainism's global resonance.

It preceded Mahavir Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, Jainism's 24th Tirthankara. Modi’s speech received widespread praise from the Jain community for connecting spiritual values with India's developmental aspirations.
