ARRAH, Bihar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday criticised the Grand Alliance, describing its manifesto as a “bundle of lies” while asserting that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had presented an “honest declaration dedicated to Bihar’s rapid development.” The remarks came during a public rally in Arrah, days ahead of the first phase of the Bihar assembly elections.
Addressing a large crowd, the Prime Minister renewed his long-standing attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led opposition, warning that a return to power for the alliance would bring back “jungle raj”, a term he used to describe a period of lawlessness and misgovernance in the state. “Jungle raj was the darkness that slowly eroded Bihar. The things that define RJD’s jungle raj are katta, cruelty, bitterness, bad manners, misgovernance, and corruption,” he said, referring to country-made firearms used in crimes.
PM Modi also criticised Congress, linking its leadership to historical controversies. “If RJD brought jungle raj and appeasement politics to Bihar, then Congress’s identity is linked to the genocide of Sikhs in 1984. Even today, Congress is giving new positions to the perpetrators within its party with full respect,” he alleged.
Highlighting the NDA’s development agenda, the Prime Minister promised the creation of one crore jobs in Bihar. “Our resolve is that the youth of Bihar will work in Bihar itself and bring glory to Bihar’s name,” he said, emphasising alignment with the national ‘Make in India’ initiative. He added that industrial growth, small and cottage industries, and local entrepreneurship would be prioritised to strengthen employment opportunities in the state.
PM Modi concluded by projecting confidence in the NDA’s prospects, asserting that the people of Bihar were determined to form another NDA government. “The new generation, along with the old generation, is determined to ensure that these jungle raj folks face a crushing defeat,” he said, urging voters to support the alliance for continued development and prosperity.
The rally marked a key moment in Bihar’s electoral campaign, setting the tone for the NDA’s strategy ahead of the polls.
