Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Andhra Pradesh on October 16, marking a major push for the state’s industrial and infrastructure growth. His one-day tour included visits to Srisailam and Kurnool, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth ₹13,430 crore across key sectors such as power, railways, defence, petroleum, and industry.

The day began with Modi offering prayers at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Srisailam, one of India’s 12 Jyotirlingas and 52 Shakti Peeths. He also visited the Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra, a memorial complex that honors Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 1677 visit to Srisailam.

In Kurnool, the Prime Minister launched several projects aimed at accelerating regional development and job creation. Among the highlights was the Transmission System Strengthening project at Kurnool-III Pooling Station, valued at ₹2,880 crore, which will boost renewable energy transmission capacity. Modi also laid the foundation stones for the Orvakal and Kopparthy Industrial Areas, developed under the National Industrial Corridor project with an investment of ₹4,920 crore. These hubs are expected to attract over ₹21,000 crore in investments and create around one lakh jobs.

Other key projects included a six-lane greenfield highway from Sabbavaram to Sheelanagar, worth ₹960 crore, and six road projects totaling ₹1,140 crore. Modi also inaugurated the Srikakulam–Angul Natural Gas Pipeline built by GAIL at a cost of ₹1,730 crore, and an Indian Oil LPG bottling plant in Chittoor, set up for ₹200 crore.

Additionally, he dedicated Bharat Electronics’ Advanced Night Vision Products Factory in Krishna district, established for ₹360 crore, strengthening India’s defence manufacturing and self-reliance goals.
