PM Reviews Surat Bullet Train Work

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the under construction bullet train station in Surat on Saturday to review progress on the Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor.

The Prime Minister arrived at Surat airport in the morning before travelling to Antroli, where one of the key stations of the project is taking shape. Officials briefed him on the current status of construction, structural work and timelines for upcoming phases. During the visit, the Prime Minister interacted with engineers and project authorities overseeing the corridor. He examined on site developments, including the layout of the station, passenger areas and technical facilities. Officials informed him about the pace of work, land acquisition progress and safety systems that will support India’s first high speed rail network.

The Mumbai Ahmedabad corridor is designed to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities and is regarded as one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the country. The Surat station is expected to be a major hub, given the city’s role as an industrial centre. Authorities noted that construction activities have continued in multiple stretches and that work at the Surat site has moved into advanced stages. The visit was aimed at taking stock of on ground implementation and ensuring adherence to project standards.

The Prime Minister’s inspection formed part of a broader review of development works during his stay in Gujarat.
