The Prime Minister arrived early at the 182-metre-tall statue located near Ekta Nagar in Narmada district, where he offered flower petals at the base of the monument.
After the tribute, Mr Modi proceeded to a nearby venue to administer the Ekta Diwas pledge, urging citizens to uphold the spirit of unity and integrity. Addressing the gathering, he said, “Sardar Patel’s vision and resolve laid the foundation of a strong and united India. It is our duty to carry forward his legacy by strengthening national harmony.” The day’s programme included the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade, a key highlight of the celebrations, featuring contingents from the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and various state police forces. This year, the parade was organised on the lines of the Republic Day celebrations, adding grandeur to the event.
In addition to the parade, a cultural festival showcasing India’s diversity was held at the venue. Artists from across the country performed traditional dances and musical presentations celebrating the theme of unity in diversity. Security arrangements around the Statue of Unity were heightened, with officials ensuring smooth conduct of the ceremonies. Visitors and dignitaries from various parts of the country attended the event to pay homage to the “Iron Man of India.”
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas serves as a reminder of Sardar Patel’s monumental contribution to integrating over 560 princely states into the Indian Union, a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
