Actor Priyanka Chopra recently opened up about a childhood incident in Delhi where her mother, Madhu Chopra, surprised her with an unexpected display of courage. Speaking about the experience while promoting her upcoming Prime Video film The Bluff, Priyanka recalled how her mother held a cab driver’s neck after perceiving a threat, an incident she described as unforgettable.
Priyanka explained that she was just 11 years old and traveling with her mother when the driver took an unfamiliar turn. “We were in a cab, I must have been 11. Suddenly, I saw my mother holding the throat of the driver. He said it was a shortcut, but it was just me and my mother. She asked him to go back to the main road,” Priyanka told ANI. The actor added that Madhu also slapped the driver to ensure they returned safely. The incident left such an impression that Priyanka didn’t argue with her mother for four months afterward.
Priyanka described seeing a side of her mother she had never known, calling it both shocking and protective. “Because I was with her, she was shaking when we got back to the hotel,” she said, highlighting the intensity of the moment.
In The Bluzf, Priyanka stars as Ercell Bodden, a former pirate navigating dangers to protect her family. The film, directed by Frank E Flowers and co-written by Flowers and Joe Ballarini, features Karl Urban, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Safia Oakley-Green, and Temuera Morrison. The 19th-century Caribbean-set adventure will stream starting February 20, 2026.
Priyanka, last seen in Heads of State (2025), is also gearing up for Judgment Day and a cameo in A Very Jonas Christmas Movie. She will return to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, set to release on April 7, 2027.
The story not only gives fans a glimpse of her fearless mother but also reinforces Priyanka’s own narrative of courage and resilience, both on and off-screen.
