New Delhi: On Constitution Day, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the Indian Constitution, describing it as a "protective shield for the poor." He urged citizens to pledge that they would not allow any attack on the Constitution, stressing that he would be the first to stand up against any assault on it.
In his statement, Gandhi declared, "I will not tolerate any attack on our Constitution. It is my duty to protect it." His comments came as part of a broader call to safeguard the values enshrined in the Constitution, which he views as central to India's democracy and inclusive progress. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also delivered a message on Constitution Day, emphasising the need to uphold the core principles of justice, equality, freedom, mutual brotherhood, secularism, and socialism.

Kharge further pledged to defend the freedom of democracy and the Constitution, underscoring the importance of love, brotherhood, and harmony in strengthening the fabric of Indian society.
