NEW DELHI: Former Union Minister and Olympian Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore joined the ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ initiative, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a nationwide push towards fitness. The event, held on Sunday in the national capital, drew enthusiastic participation from citizens, athletes and cycling groups.

Rathore cycled alongside participants and emphasised the significance of regular physical activity in improving overall well-being. He said the initiative had succeeded in encouraging people of all age groups to adopt healthier routines. “This movement has inspired families to step outdoors and make fitness a shared responsibility,” he remarked, acknowledging the Prime Minister’s efforts to promote health-conscious living. The ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ campaign is part of a wider set of activities under the Fit India Movement, which was launched to motivate communities to incorporate exercise into their daily lives. Events are organised across several cities, with volunteers, local authorities and fitness influencers participating in cycling, jogging and other group activities.

Rathore highlighted that cycling is accessible, environmentally friendly and effective in improving stamina. He stated that regular public participation reflects a growing awareness about fitness and preventive health. He also interacted with young cyclists and encouraged them to continue engaging with sports. Organisers said attendance has been steadily increasing, with more families opting to join the weekly events. They noted that the initiative has also helped promote sustainable mobility and the use of non-motorised transport in urban areas.

The campaign will continue through the winter months, with local administrations supporting traffic regulation and safety arrangements for participants.
