Ranveer Singh has described Dhurandhar director Aditya Dhar’s upcoming action-thriller as a “complex, layered story” crafted with international-level technical finesse. Speaking at the film’s trailer launch event in Mumbai on Tuesday, the actor said the team has pushed boundaries to deliver a cinematic experience that aims to represent India on the global stage.
Ranveer plays an Indian spy in the film, a character introduced as the ‘wrath of god’. Praising the scale and ambition of the project, he said, “It is an insane trailer. I’m proud to be part of this movie. We are taking our cinema to the world, and this is India’s moment on the global stage.”
The film features a star-studded ensemble including Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna and R. Madhavan. Produced by Lokesh Dhar, Dhurandhar is a collaboration between Jio Studios and B62 Studios, and is inspired by true events. Set across the 1970s and 1980s, the story revolves around the lives and missions of Indian spies navigating turbulent geopolitical waters.
Ranveer highlighted the film’s visual scale and craftsmanship, noting that the cinematography matches global benchmarks. “The DOP has created a visual world on par with any movie in the world,” he said, adding that the narrative’s depth and technical execution would “blow audiences away.”
Director Aditya Dhar echoed this sentiment, emphasising his intention to create films that take Indian cinema to the international podium. Citing global titles like Parasite and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, he said the aim is to make Indian films that are both entertaining and globally recognised without being typecast as arthouse.
Co-stars also praised Dhar’s vision. Arjun Rampal called the film “ambitious,” saying the cast had to bring their “triple A game.” Madhavan recalled the intense process of achieving his character’s look, noting Dhar’s eye for detail.
Dhar thanked his team for their commitment, saying everyone worked tirelessly for over a year and a half without complaint.
Dhurandhar releases nationwide on December 5, 2025.
