Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid the Budget for financial year 2025-26 on March 25, 2025, with a total outlay of ₹1 lakh crore, 31.5% more than last year's budget. It is the inaugural budget of the newly established Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government in Delhi after 27 years.

One of the major features of the budget is the provision of ₹5,100 crore under Mahila Samridhi Yojana, providing financial support of ₹2,500 per month to the targeted women. The scheme is tailored to encourage economic independence among economically weaker section women.

In her speech, CM Gupta underlined that this budget targets ten priority areas such as infrastructure development, electricity, roads, and water supply. She informed that the capital expenditure has been increased to ₹28,000 crore, doubling it, and proving the government's determination to develop basic services and infrastructure in the national capital.

Gupta further said the budget includes funding for medical programmes, such as ₹2,144 crore to the PM Jan Arogya Yojana offering insurance cover worth ₹10 lakh per beneficiary.

A sum also been allocated towards cleanliness of Yamuna River as well as raising the level of public safety via other measures including placing CCTV cameras.

The budget session will continue until March 28, 2025, with discussions and voting on the budget to be held soon.

This all-encompassing budget is designed to tackle some of the issues in Delhi while preparing the ground for future growth and development in the city.
