Richa Ghosh to Be Grandly Felicitated by CAB

Richa Ghosh has become the first Bengali cricketer to win a World Cup. To honour this achievement, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is planning a special felicitation ceremony for the Siliguri-born wicketkeeper batter. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee may also be invited to the event, according to sources.

Richa played a crucial role in India’s World Cup triumph on home soil. She delivered impactful innings during challenging moments, especially in the semifinal and final, where her cameo knocks eased pressure on the team. Her performance found its crowning glory with India lifting the trophy.

CAB is preparing to honour the world champion with a grand celebration, likely to take place at the end of this week. While CAB is interested in holding the ceremony on November 7, Richa’s family has requested November 8, so the final date is yet to be confirmed.

As part of the felicitation, Richa is expected to receive a gold-made bat an honour previously bestowed upon Manoj Tiwary upon his retirement from the Bengal team. The bat may be presented to her by another Indian cricket icon, Jhulan Goswami.

Meanwhile, Richa’s hometown Siliguri is gearing up to welcome its star. Plans are in place to bring her home from the airport in an open jeep. Mayor Gautam Deb said, “Once Richa returns, we will offer her a civic reception. Clubs will be invited to Dinabandhu Manch to honour her.”

All of Bengal eagerly awaits the homecoming of its world-conquering daughter.
