BENGALURU: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday inaugurated a three-day meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS), the top decision-making body of the Sangh.

On the agenda are discussions on the Manipur situation and the efforts to engineer a 'North-South divide' in the country.

In a press conference, RSS joint secretary CR Mukunda said the conclave will address "intense decisions on some of the contemporary and pressing issues," with leaders of 32 RSS-related organizations attending.

Mukunda observed that Manipur has endured huge challenges in the last 20 months but there is some hope.

He stated that the vision of the central government on both political and administrative lines has increased people's expectations in Manipur.

He further stated that the RSS is watching closely and is of the view that the development of a natural atmosphere would take time.

The RSS joint secretary said that forces challenging national unity were a matter of worry. "As an organisation, we are concerned about the forces which are challenging national unity, especially raising the North-South divide, whether it is about delimitation or languages," Mukunda said.

Mukunda pointed out that RSS volunteers and different organizations in the 'Sangh Parivar' are going out of their way to bring about harmony, particularly in some areas.

He also noted that the RSS has experienced considerable growth in the last year, with 83,129 active Shakhas, an increase of more than 10,000 from last year.
