A 32 year old shopkeeper, the son of a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh functionary, was shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle borne assailants in Ferozepur, police said on 16 November.
The victim has been identified as Naveen Arora. Police officials said the attack took place when the assailants approached him and opened fire before fleeing the spot. Officers reached the area soon after receiving information and cordoned it off for preliminary investigation. Sources said Naveen’s father, Baldev Raj Arora, has been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for several years.
Police have not yet confirmed whether the killing is linked to his father’s association. Senior officers said multiple teams have been formed to identify and trace the suspects. CCTV footage from the vicinity is being examined, and statements are being collected from local residents and shopkeepers.
The body has been sent for post mortem examination. Police said they are investigating the motive behind the shooting and are exploring all possible angles. Security has been strengthened in the area as a precaution.
