Actor Chitrangada Singh has showered praise on Salman Khan, describing the superstar as refreshingly real and unapologetically himself while working together on the upcoming war drama Battle of Galwan. Speaking to PTI, Singh said Khan’s authenticity sets him apart in an industry where, according to her, many people tend to “wear masks”.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Battle of Galwan is inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict between India and China and is slated for release on April 17, 2026. Singh, who will be seen alongside Khan in the film, said what impressed her most was his complete lack of pretension.
“He is very tuned into what his fans want him to be, and he is exactly that,” Singh said. “There is zero pretension in him. He speaks when he wants to, stays quiet when he wants to, and even decides spontaneously if he wants to work out. He is exactly who he is, and that’s very rare.”
The actor added that Khan’s honesty is what makes him so loved by his fans. “In this industry, sometimes you do things for effect. I’ve always admired how tough it is to just be yourself, and Salman does that effortlessly. That’s why people connect with him so deeply,” she said.
Singh also praised Khan’s spontaneous and secure approach to acting, revealing that he enjoys improvisation on set. “Scenes keep evolving with him until they feel right. There’s a freshness and ease in the way he works, and it makes the entire process fun for everyone involved,” she added.
Interestingly, Singh revealed that she was earlier supposed to collaborate with Khan on a film he was planning to produce around 2016–17, though the project never materialised.
Meanwhile, Singh is currently enjoying positive responses to her latest release, Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, while anticipation continues to build for Battle of Galwan.
