Sarfaraz Khan talented yet often “overlooked.” Despite repeatedly proving himself, he has remained on the fringes of the Indian national team. Recently, he delivered an impressive performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, and at the IPL Auction 2026, he finally received his due value. Chennai Super Kings signed him at his base price of ₹75 lakh, sending Sarfaraz into visible delight.
Sarfaraz had made an impact on debut against England in 2024 and followed it up with a century against New Zealand. Yet, he was dropped from the team again. In domestic cricket, he has been a consistent run-scorer over 4,500 runs in first-class cricket for Mumbai, including 16 centuries and even a triple hundred. In the IPL, he previously played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, and Delhi Capitals, but never truly managed to cement his place. For the last two seasons, he went unsold.
However, his blazing form in domestic cricket suggests a possible comeback. After CSK picked him, Sarfaraz shared a video on social media showing a man celebrating wildly, with the caption: “Thank you CSK for giving me a new life.” He had gone unsold in the first round of the auction before Chennai bought him later. CSK also shared a video of one of his explosive innings, where Sarfaraz celebrated with push-ups after the knock. The question now is will fans witness a similar innings in the yellow jersey?
