SC to Hear Plea of Sahara Employees on Pending Salaries

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear an urgent plea from employees of Sahara Group companies seeking payment of their pending salaries. The case is set for hearing on 17 November 2025.

The employees, who have not been paid for several months, have moved the court to request immediate relief. The lawyers representing them urged Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai to list their interim pleas for hearing alongside the ongoing case of Sahara India Commercial Corporation Ltd. (SICCL), which is seeking permission to sell 88 prime properties to Adani Properties Private Limited. The sale proposal is already scheduled for hearing on 17 November.

On 14 October, the Supreme Court bench had sought responses from the Centre, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and other relevant stakeholders regarding SICCL’s request. In the meantime, the employees’ situation has grown more urgent, with lawyers arguing that their non-payment for months is causing significant financial hardship.

The upcoming hearing is likely to address both the matter of the property sale and the employees' salary demands, as the long-standing legal battles surrounding the Sahara Group continue to unfold.
