The final list for the IPL mini-auction has changed once more. The list published on Tuesday featured 350 players, and now 9 more names have been added. But among the notable omissions is Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Though seven Bangladeshi players are included, Shakib’s absence has fueled speculation that his IPL career may be over.
Initially, around 1,400 players across 14 countries had registered for the auction, but 1,005 were cut from the pool. The auction will be held on December 16 in the UAE, with 77 total slots available 31 of them for overseas players. A total of 350 cricketers will go under the hammer.
On Tuesday, 35 additional players were included, with Quinton de Kock returning to the list at a franchise’s request. Now 9 more names have been added, including former RCB player Swastik Chikara, Tripura’s Manishankar Mura Singh, and Hyderabad’s Chama Milind. Among foreigners, Australia’s all-rounder Chris Green and South Africa’s Ethan Bosch have been added.
However, Shakib’s name remains absent, even after expectations that he might be included late. He went unsold last year as well. From Bangladesh, seven cricketers including Mustafizur Rahman, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib are part of this year’s auction list.
