Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has finally addressed weeks of intense rumours surrounding her personal life, confirming that her wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal has officially been called off. The clarification came through a heartfelt Instagram statement, where the typically private cricketer said she felt it was “important to speak out” after continuous public speculation.
The couple, who had been in a relationship for five years, were scheduled to marry on November 23, 2025. Their pre-wedding festivities had already gone viral, creating huge buzz among fans. However, the ceremony was abruptly postponed when Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a sudden medical emergency. Reports later emerged that Palash Muchhal had also been hospitalised due to stress-related health issues, leading both families to initially assure the public that the wedding was only delayed.
Over the following weeks, speculation intensified due to Mandhana removing wedding-related content from her social media and appearing publicly without her engagement ring. On Sunday, she ended the uncertainty: “I need to clarify that the wedding is called off,” her statement read.
She further emphasised that cricket remains her top focus. “I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all, and for me, that has always been representing my country. I hope to continue playing and winning trophies for India for as long as possible,” she wrote.
Mandhana also urged the media and fans to respect the privacy of both families, saying she wanted to “close this matter here” and requested people to allow them the space to move on.
The announcement comes just ahead of India’s upcoming international fixtures and the Women’s Premier League season, where Mandhana is expected to lead Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Her teammates, including close friend Jemimah Rodrigues, have reportedly rallied around her during this difficult period.
