Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana stepped out in public for the first time since announcing that her wedding to music composer Palash Muchhal had been called off. The batter was spotted at the airport on Wednesday afternoon, keeping her appearance simple and low-key. Wearing a mask and dressed casually, she avoided interaction with the paparazzi, quietly heading straight to her car without responding to calls or posing for photos.
Her brief airport sighting came just a day after her brother, Shravan Mandhana, shared a picture of her batting in the nets. The image brought comfort to fans, suggesting she was slowly getting back to her training routine and shifting her focus back to cricket after weeks of speculation about her personal life.
Smriti and Palash were originally set to marry on 23 November. However, the plan was disrupted when her father, Shriniwas Mandhana, was hospitalised due to a heart-related issue. Both families chose to delay the ceremony at the time, but neither addressed the growing rumours, which led to widespread confusion online.
On Sunday, the India opener finally broke her silence with a detailed public note, confirming that the wedding had been cancelled. She expressed her desire to end speculation and requested privacy for both families, stating that she wished to “close this matter” and move forward. She also reaffirmed her commitment to cricket, saying that representing India would always be her highest priority.
Shortly after her statement, Palash Muchhal also posted a message urging people not to spread misinformation and sharing that he, too, was moving on.
For now, both appear focused on healing privately and returning to their respective careers, while fans continue to show support for Smriti as she navigates a deeply personal chapter with quiet strength.
