Sudan one of the prominent countries of Africa - A country acting as bridge between Arabic and African aspirations has lot of potential. But , unfortunately war and terror have taken huge toll on the country.
The scourge of extremism to which common Sudan citizens to have felt prey has wrecked havoc on country. Sudan is perhaps the most unfortunate country on planet earth.
Sudan is highly important country. Sudan, officially the Republic of the Sudan, is a country in Northeast Africa. It borders the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west, Libya to the northwest, Egypt to the north, the Red Sea to the east, Eritrea and Ethiopia to the southeast, and South Sudan to the south. Sudan has a population of 50 million people as of 2024 and occupies 1,886,068 square kilometres (728,215 square miles), making it Africa's third-largest country by area. Sudan's capital and most populous city is Khartoum.
The domination of few in power corridors of the country has destroyed the peace and prosperity of Sudan. Currently RSF militias are wrecking havoc in the country. The Arabic tribes are alleged of high crimes against non arab population.
Be it Darfur Genocide are current crisis between Sudan Government and RSF militias the country has suffered hellish situation. competition for resources and conflict along ethnic lines between Arab and African groups for decades, and a genocide against its non-Arab population was perpetrated in the early 2000s by Arab militias known as the Janjaweed, with the blessing and support of central government.
Even in Short history the country has suffered much.
In an article published in Daily Guardian by Nesrine Malik, the words are enough to stir our emotions as author writes - '' in Sudan’s popular revolution of 2019, in which president Omar al-Bashir who ruled Sudan for almost 30 years was deposed after months of protest. It was a revolution that had two demands: first the removal of a dictator, and second the ejection of the military (from whose ranks Bashir came when he led a coup in 1989) from power once and for all. In the aftermath of the revolution, it became clear that the RSF, which had partnered with Bashir and his government to suppress rebellion in Darfur, had amassed significant power. With Bashir gone, the RSF and the SAF entered what was supposed to be a transitional power-sharing agreement with civilians in order to pave the way for civilian rule. It was short-lived. The SAF and RSF turned on the civilians, and then each other.''
Even United Nations stands alarmed. UN-backed International Criminal Court (ICC) few months back expressed profound alarm in a statement over the reports of mass killings, rapes and other crimes emerging from El Fasher, noting that its investigation of alleged war crimes committed since the outbreak of war in April 2023 is ongoing.
“Within the ongoing investigation, the office is taking immediate steps regarding the alleged crimes in El-Fasher to preserve and collect relevant evidence for its use in future prosecutions,” the prosecutor’s office underlined.
What is heart rending is that media reports state that Satellite images and verified videos paint a harrowing picture of door-to-door mass killings in the Darfur region of war-torn Sudan as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary rebels captured a key city in the region.
The Humanitarian Research Lab (HRL) at the Yale School of Public Health says they observed numerous clusters with discoloration around them, consistent with the appearance of human bodies across the city as RSF advanced.
The world needs to stand and put an end to conflict and genocide in Sudan .
