Veteran actor Sunny Deol has finally reacted to the viral dialogue from Aditya Dhar’s film Dhurandhar, which references his iconic movies Ghayal and Ghatak. The line, “Ghayal hoon, isiliye Ghatak hoon,” delivered by Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna, has been trending across social media, evoking nostalgia among fans of the 1990s action classics.
In an interview with ANI, Sunny Deol clarified that he did not receive any royalty or payment for the dialogue’s use. He explained that the reference was purely out of admiration by the director, calling it “very sweet.” Sunny said, “No, our director is a great fan. He has watched my films, including Ghayal and Ghatak. So I think he used the dialogue just out of respect.”
The actor’s response has been widely appreciated for its humility, with many fans praising his gracious acknowledgment of the homage. Sunny also highlighted the influence of his classic action films on newer generations of filmmakers, showing how his cinematic legacy continues to resonate in contemporary Bollywood.
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt, has been a box office success, grossing over ₹1,300 crore worldwide. A sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is scheduled for release next month, further expanding the franchise’s popularity.
Sunny Deol was last seen in Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, which released on January 23 and performed well at the box office. The war drama, featuring an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, continues the legacy of the 1997 classic Border, depicting joint operations of the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
Looking ahead, Sunny will next appear in the period drama Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The film is set to release on August 13, coinciding with Independence Day week, marking a reunion of the actor with prominent filmmaker and production talent for the first time.
